May 3, 2008: The article in the following link will show you some information about Philippines retirement plan. Though employment compensation and employee benefits in the Philippines is way too low compared to those in the rich country, this retirement plan is basically enough for a Filipino employee to survive in his/her senior age. The median salary for an employee working in a multi national company in the Philippines is $400.00 a month. With a combined retirement plan based on this article a Filipino can retire a good life. Now compare to that if you retire in the Philippines bringing with you $1,000.00 a month of retirement benefit distribution. It is a no brainer. But wait, $1K a month is way too low for a US or European employee who earns a median income nowadays. I spoke to an American civil servant. He said his retirement benefit will be a minimum of $2,000.00 a month. If you live like a king in the Philippines for $1,000.00 a month, do the math for $2K a month. With gas prices shooting through the roof, food prices as well, don't you think retiring in the Philippines is worth exploring? For Philippine retirement plan please follow the link: http://www.watsonwyatt.com/asia-pacific/localsites/philippines/news/retirement_maylene.asp Figures in this article are in Philippine Pesos. The exchange rate as of this writing is $1.00=Php41.15 based on the exchange rate at Philippine National Bank in New York.
