Sumoroy- The first revolutionary hero in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial rule is Sumoroy. He incited revolt in the province during the Galleon trade between Philippines and Mexico. Northern Samar was originally the construction site for Galleons in the Philippines. Sumoroy rebelled against the Spaniards for cruel labor practices at that time. After his revolt, known as the first major rebellion in the Philippines, it was followed by series of rebellion by Filipinos in other provinces.

Capul Lighthouse- This is the oldest lighthouse in Visayas. Northern Samar is the gateway to the Pacific and the entry point of Pacific sea to the Philippine sea. The Galleon trade passed this way in and out of the Philippines to Mexico. With their long journey from Mexico to the Philippines Galleon ships stopped by Capul island to refill fresh water, repair their ship and rest before proceeding to Manila. The Capul light house guided the ships upon arrival in this lone Asian colony.

Catarman Business District- The business district of the province. Trade and commerce are conducted here everyday. This is the heart and soul of the economic life of Northern Samar. The provincial airport is also located in the midst of the city. You will be accommodated here at places according to your taste and preference.
