ALLEN, THE BRIDGE TO LUZON

Allen is the town that connects Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines, to the rest of the country. Buses from Manila are loaded (rolled-on) to the RO RO boat at Matnog, Sorsogon. They then are unloaded (rolled off) at Allen, Northern Samar after a 2 hour boat ride. Being a staging point to all commerce and transportation to the various islands and to their final destination, Mindanao, the town of Allen grew into a busy hub of trade and commerce. Allen is also the seaport for boats that transport people to the islands of San Antonio, Capul, and the group of islands of San Vicente, where pearl farm is located.
